Support Action Net Award

By 20 January 2009No Comments

Heavy Load’s Stay Up Late campaign beat 117 other support providers from around the country to win the prestigious Lemos and Crane Support Action Net Award. The award is given to projects that demonstrate an innovative approach towards improving the lives of vulnerable people, so it’s a huge honour for the band. Here’s some of the lovely comments from the judges:

“Absolutely brilliant. What a spectacularly obvious thing to challenge! Everyone should be able to stay up late if they want to.”

”Such a fundamental choice for any individual to ‘stay up late’ and to enjoy punk music at the same time has to be a great thing, I hope Heavy Load get to tour wider afield!”

“The stay up late campaign is infectious in its simplicity. Great to see something that is both fun and has a serious policy focus – engaging both service users and challenging practitioners.”

  • Good luck with your campaign. services to pwld in this country are a disgrace. Large organisations make a fortune out of people with learning difficulties and ignore basic human rights.
